QIGONG

Chinese Medical Qigong is one of the 4 branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).


TCM consists of:

  • Acupuncture

  • Herbal

  • Massage

  • Medical Qigong

 

Qi- life force/ internal energy

Gong- skill. Requires time and effort.

 

  • Qi-is also the medium or bridge between matter and spirit.

Qigong- (chee-gung) or (chee-kung) is the practice of gathering, circulating, and applying life force energy to improve: Power, Endurance, Health, and Control over ones life.

We will achieve this through the practice of:

I. Breathing

II. Body Motion
III. Intent (Will, Imagination, Visualization)

 

I. Breathing

  • Belly Breathing (diaphragmatic)- inhale through the nose-expand lower breathing chamber-exhale through the mouth-contract the lower breathing chamber.

  • Normal Breathing- separating your breathing from body action.
     

II. Body Motion

  • Dragon Breath- combining belly breathing with body motion.

 

III. Intent

  • Energy Ball- combining belly breathing (normal breathing) and intent to cultivate and channel Qi.


Three Classifications of Exercises

  1. Purgation- Getting rid of stagnant or turbid Qi. Getting rid of excess Qi.

  2. Tonification- Energy in.

  3. Regulation- Balancing or regulating your Qi.

    To balance ones Yin and Yang energies is to: Harmonize the body and mind, Mind with will, Will with breath, Breath with spirit, Spirit with motion, Motion with surrounding environment (earth), universe (heavens), and the divine (Dao)
